“Spent a beautiful evening of love making with none other than my husband,” the Irish singer wrote. “We decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend again and stay married, but we did rush [into tying the knot].”

O’Connor predicts they will be “sickeningly happy” together and plans to meet with a marriage counselor. She also hopes to move in with Herridge, 38, “in like a year, like regular people.”

O’Connor and Herridge wed on the singer’s birthday at Las Vegas’ Little White Wedding Chapel — the same spot where Britney Spears and Jason Alexander tied the knot in 2004. It was the the fourth marriage for the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer, whose ex-husbands include music producer John Reynolds, journalist Nicholas Sommerlad and musician SteveCooney.

Swamp love for Adele!

On Monday, the British singer, 23, debuted her new boyfriend Simon Konecki in the most unlikely of places: Trolling for alligators and other critters aboard an airboat in Everglades National Park in Florida.

The “Someone Like You” chanteuse — whose beloved album 21 was famously inspired by a gut-wrenching breakup with another man — was “very sweet and caring” with her bearded new guy, an onlooker tells Us.

“Adele was taking pictures of him and the scenery . . . they were having fun and were very comfortable with one another,” the witness adds.

Konecki, 36, is the founder of British charity Drop4Drop, and was “very attentive” with his new love during their hour-long boat tour. “He watched her every move, especially when she was on the dock and on the boat. He wanted to make sure she didn’t fall into the water!” the source adds. “They were lovey dovey with one another [and] very into each other,” with the duo kissing during the field trip. “She seems really happy.”

On the mend from vocal chord surgery (which demanded complete vocal rest for months) Adele “finally has time off and is enjoying it,” a source close to the singer says.

Hard-working do-gooder Konecki is “the nicest guy,” another pal adds.

Exclusive Video: Jersey Shore’s Ronnie: The Situation Bragged About Snooki Hookup “For Attention”

The ultimate battle of he-said, she-said continues on Jersey Shore.

When the MTV cast first arrived in Florence, Italy last year, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino bragged to Ronnie Ortiz-Magro that he “kind of had sex” with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. Though Polizzi denies it, Ortiz-Magro backs up his pal, but thinks Sorrentino only bragged about the hookup “for attention.”

“I know from experience: Anything you say or do is going to come out, so you know what you’re doing. With the whole Mike and Snooki [hookup] thing, I feel like Mike did it just to get attention,” Ortiz-Magro, 25, told Us Weekly during a recent visit to our New York City headquarters to promote Jersey Shore‘s January 5 premiere. “I think they hooked up, because you only get that mad and flip out that much when you’re guilty.”

Currently dating Jionni LaValle, Polizzi, 23, confronted Sorrentino, 29, about the alleged hookup. “You’re telling everyone that I cheated on Jionni with you. I don’t like you, I don’t want to be friends with you, and I can’t even look at you right now,” she fumed in one episode. Their angry spat later played out over several episodes and became one of season 4’s most prominent shorelines.

Now that the gang has relocated from Florence to Seaside Heights, N.J., Ortiz-Magro argues that the cast is much more at ease.

“It may seem like we were ungrateful [for the experience in Italy], but we were just out of our element,” he said. “We couldn’t go to the gym or go tanning. Everything wasn’t convenient to us. In Jersey, everything we want is right there.”

In Sorrentino’s case, Ortiz-Magro hopes viewers will see the progress he’s made in mending friendships with his roommates.

“In Italy, Mike looked like such a bad guy and in Jersey, he put a little more effort into fixing those burnt bridges,” Ortiz-Magro tells Us. “I always knew Mike was an instigator — everyone thought I was crazy! — but he’s the crazy one. Everyone saw he was a villain, but hopefully [this season viewers] see he’s a pretty good guy.”

What a keeper!

Not only is Jionni LaValleNicole “Snooki” Polizzi‘s boyfriend of one year a total romantic, but the Jersey Shore star says her 23-year-old beau is also a sobering influence.

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres airing Thursday, Polizzi, 24, confirms that she’s curbed her hard-partying lifestyle now that she’s in a longterm relationship.

“When I was 21, I didn’t really care. I would go out like every single weekend and just go crazy,” she told DeGeneres. “Now that I have a boyfriend and I’m in love and I’m 24, I only have a couple of glasses of wine once a week.”

Really?! Yes, says Polizzi. “It’s kind of like, I’ve matured. I still know how to throw down a couple of shots,[but] I prefer to take it easy,” she said. “I drink like two Pinots once a week and I’m good.”

Though Jersey Shore viewers saw Polizzi and LaValle at odds during season 4 in Florence, Italy, the duo’s relationship couldn’t be better — as long as they don’t watch episodes of the MTV hit together.

“I try not to [watch the show together] because it just starts fights,” she told Us Weekly in September.

“We’re good,” she continued. “I mean, obviously, with the show, it kind of sucks a little bit seeing all the drama that goes on. But we’re holding it together.”

25 dead in Syrian ‘terrorist’ blast, state media says

An image grab from Syrian state TV Friday shows a damaged car at the site of a powerful explosion in the heart of Damascus.

Breaking News

(CNN) — A suicide bomber blew himself up in the Syrian capital on Friday, killing at least 25 people and wounding 46 others, Syrian state media reported.

The incident took place in the al-Midan quarter of Damascus. Casualties included mostly civilians and some law enforcement personnel, the Syrian Arab News Agency said.

The news agency said the bomb went off at a traffic light “in a densely populated area” with heavy traffic. It occurred near Hassan al-Hakeem Basic Education School.

No one has claimed responsibility for the action. It comes a couple of days after the Free Syrian Army, the force of military defectors fighting the Bashar al-Assad regime, vowed to kick off “huge operations” against government targets.

The Local Coordination Committees of Syria, a network of opposition activists which collects reports from eyewitnesses and protesters, reported a heavy presence of ambulances and security forces in Damascus, with explosions heard around the area.

Every Friday for months, anti-government activists have staged mass demonstrations across Syria.

The LCC reported anti-government demonstrations and a massive deployment of security forces in other parts of the country. At least four people have died elsewhere, two in Hama, and one each in Homs and the Damascus suburb of Zabadany. The LCC said security forces firing at protesters shot a child in the chest in one location.

The apparent suicide attack comes as Arab League monitors are in the country to determine whether the Syrian government is abiding by an agreement to end its 10-month crackdown against protests. The Arab League said Friday it was increasing the number of monitors in Syria over the next few days to 150 people, from about 100.

Between 5,000 and 6,000 deaths have occurred during the crackdown, according to various accounts. Activists blame the killings on a 10-month-long brutal government crackdown against peaceful protesters. Al-Assad’s government says it is putting down armed terrorists, whom it blames for the bloodshed.

The Friday blast comes two weeks after a pair of powerful car bomb explosions killed at least 44 people in Damascus. The government blamed the strike on terrorists, while opposition forces accused the regime of carrying out the attack to back up its claim of fighting terrorists.

CNN cannot independently confirm events inside Syria because the government has restricted activities by international journalists.

EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2012 BAKU – AZERBAIJAN !

The easternmost country of Europe, Azerbaijan was destined by its very location to bridge Europe with Asia. While Italy looks like an elegant shoe, Azerbaijan has a configuration of an eagle streaming from Europe eastwards. The capital and the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest, Baku, has rapidly transformed itself into a highly developed modern city, the surrounding villages still remain untouched and archaic.

Azerbaijan is divided partially between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. On its eastern side lies the Caspian Sea, whilst the Russian Federation borders it on the north.

Other countries which share boundaries with Azerbaijan are Georgia in the west and north-west, Armenia in the south-west and Iran in the south. The Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan is bordered by Armenia to its north and east, while Iran lies to its south and south-west, and Turkey to its west. Many islands in the Caspian Sea are also part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan if formed of 65 regions and 69 cities of which Baku is the capital. While Azerbaijani is the official language spoken, due to Russia’s rule for so many years, Russian and Turkish languages are widely spoken. In some regions, people also converse in English, German and Arabic.

Azerbaijan is a secular and unitary republic consisting mostly of Ethnic Azeri and Shia Muslims who form a major part of its population. Orthodox Christians and Jews also play their own role in the form of minorities.

Azerbaijan’s economy mainly depends upon oil and natural gas production. Other industries that contribute to its economy include cotton and agricultural products.

Pancakes, soups and bread form a major part of the daily cuisine of the Azerbaijani’s. Meat and poultry features prominently in all the food preparations in the form of kebabs, minced meat, etc. Among the fruits, locally apples, cherries, grapes, melons, raspberries, plums and peaches are produced. Sweet black tea is a very popular drink among the locals.

History

Azerbaijan has been inhabited by several tribes since ancient times. In fact, archeologically it is one of the oldest spots of human dwellings which can traced to the Azykh cave and number of other habitations dating to the Stone Age. Tribal formations in Azerbaijan started in the 3rd Millennium B.C. of which the Manna and Medes were very powerful and advanced tribes.

The Medes tribe invaded the Manna tribe in 6th century B.C who were eventually conquered, even after much resistance. The Medes tribes were of Indo-European origins and are ancestors of modern Kurds.

In developing the state of Azerbaijan, Atropatena and Caucasian Albania have played a foremost role. The origin of the name Azerbaijan has been denoted to the ruler of Atropatena- Atropat, which was later altered to its present name.

During the rule of Atropatena, Azerbaijan territory was being formed and around the same time Christianity arrived in the region (3rd to 5th century).

At the beginning of 6th century, Alabnic alphabet system was introduced which uplifted the education system.

In the 8th century the Arabs conquered Azerbaijan and made it a part of Arab Khalifat. Along with the Arab rulers, arrived Islam religion bringing with it new traditions and culture. The Azerbaijan’s accepted Islam and began to be known as Muslims.

In the 18th century controversy between Turkey, Russia and Iran adversely affected Azerbaijan. The Turkmanchay Treaty between Russia and Iran in 1828 divided the country in two parts with the southern part consolidated in Iran and northern with Russia.

The 20th century turned out to be a 360 degree transformation for the country as oil exploration began on a large with 95% of Soviet Union’s oil extraction depending upon Azerbaijan. In 1901, the city of Baku, produced almost 51% of the world’s output in oil.

Speaking of technical accomplishments of the country, one should notice the first oil tanker in the world, Zoroaster, used since 1879. Almost 70 years later, the tanker was sunk to provide a base for the off-shore rigs also known as the Oil Rocks. The site was recently featured in James Bond’s World Is Not Enough.

Last but not least, the first Republic of Azerbaijan established in 1918, appeared to be the first secular republic in the Muslim world. Despite only 23 months of its existence, it tried to introduce a number of daring novices.

After 70 years of Soviet rule, Azerbaijan’s won their Independence on the 18th of October, 1991. After hard years, the situation has slowly improved and is improving with time as the World Bank declared the country as Top 10 reformer in 2008.

In 2012, Azerbaijan will host the Eurovision Song Contest.

Moldova: National final on March 10th.

Chisinau, Moldova –

The Moldovan public broadcaster TRM has launched the national selection for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with an open call for entries. Songs, which have to be in either Romanian or English language, can be sent in until January 16th.

Moldova: National final on March 10th

Just like in most recent years, the Moldovan entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will again be chosen in a public national final, to be broadcast live on March 10th. Songs can be submitted until January 16th, with only Moldovan artists being eligible to enter. However, up to two band members can be foreigners, and collaboration with foreign songwriters is also allowed.

After that, a multi-stage process will be used to narrow down the number of entries. First of all, an expert jury will pre-select a number of entries that will get the chance to be performed in live auditions, where their live singing and performing abilities will be judged.

Out of those, 20 entries will proceed to the national final. Three additional entries will receive a wild card for the final by the decision of an online vote, raising the total number of entries in the national final to 23. In the national final, the winner will be chosen by a 50/50 combination of televoting and the votes of an expert jury.
